This wasn’t supposed to happen.
But it did.
This wasn’t supposed to be my life.
But it was.

I was just a typical girl, living a typical life. Nothing was out of the ordinary until tragedy threw me into a turnstile I couldn’t see my way out of. That was, until him.

I never could’ve imagined my heart falling the way it did. Hard, fast, and with unbounding beauty.

The only problem?
He was off limits.
Forbidden.

But he became my everything, and I became his, so we risked it all. It was only a matter of time until I realized that our risk came with unimaginable consequences.

My name is Camellia Hale and his is David Andrews, and this is our love story.

REVIEW BY KRISTI LYNN

Open. Honest. Raw. Emotional. Painful. Heart wrenching. These are some of the adjectives I would use to describe this beautifully written book by EK Blair. The story of Cam and David is hard to put into words and do it justice but I will do my best.

EK Blair is an automatic one click author for me. I love her words. I am captivated by her story telling. This book lived up to the EK Blair standard for me and then some. It was an emotional journey full of heart ache, loss, struggle, growth, overcoming, love and finding peace and happiness when you are handed some cruel fate. EK has a way of drawing you into a story and she makes you feel like you are a part of it, witnessing each and everything the characters are, feeling all the feels of the characters. I hurt with them, was angry on their behalf, cheered them on throughout, cursed when more pain and heartache fell upon them. I am typically a fast reader but with this book, I took it slow and savored each word. It was an experience and one I am hoping many will take and love just like I did.

People may shy away from this story if they do not like forbidden love or subjects a bit taboo in nature. I would urge you not to do that with this one. Put your feelings aside and give this book a chance. This book is unique and very different than other books within this trope. The student/teacher aspect was never really front and center for me. The age gap did not play into my thoughts as I read this story. These characters and this story will burrow and bury itself in your heart and mind.

This book gets five huge stars from me and really deserves more than that.
